We don’t believe that your precious time at home with your child is best spent filling out worksheets and completing paper-based tasks. We follow advice from research that shows that real-life experiences are far more beneficial for children and have the added bonus of allowing you to spend some quality time with your child. Home Learning is most effective when it is talked about and completed with family members.
Instead, we have created a ‘Home Learning Menu’ that your child will bring home every half term. This menu has a wide range of activities that you can choose to complete. It is up to you whether you do 2,5 or 10 each week!

How do I record home learning?
If you and your child are working on some of the items from the home learning menu, or anything else you think would be interesting to their teacher and peers, you can record it as an observation using our Online Journal, Tapestry. Find out more about Tapestry in the EYFS ‘Parents’ section of our website.

We love seeing what fun things children are getting up to at home. Some parents keep us updated with extra-curricular activities this way too. Teachers can see and comment on the observations and even share them with the child’s friends if they would enjoy that.
If you are having any trouble with home learning you can talk to any of the EYFS staff or Torie, who will be happy to help support you with this.
